This letter board, hung on Chicago’s “El” trains, guided riders to Comiskey Park or Wrigley Field.

The 1906 World Series pitted Chicago against … Chicago. Though it was their only Series meeting, they were — and are — intense competitors, a rivalry reflecting geographic, social, ethnic, and economic divisions between traditional fan bases.
