This supplement to the Chicago Daily News highlights the All-American Girls in a 1949 cover story.

Cubs owner Philip Wrigley created the All-American Girls league in 1943 to keep baseball in the public eye during WWII. The league rested on a long tradition of women’s baseball in Chicago.
